Head's Welcome
WELCOME TO THE WYCOMBE ABBEY SCHOOL CHANGZHOU!
Dear Parents,
My name is Victoria Hany, and it is with great pleasure that I Head the Lower School at Wycombe Abbey, Changzhou. With over 20 years of experience in both international and UK teaching, I have been privileged to have enjoyed headship and senior leadership roles in different countries. Along the way I have taught all ages from KG to Grade 12, which provides me with a unique understanding of the challenges and rewards a student may face along their educational journey.
Moving to China with my family is a wonderful experience, the generosity of the people has been amazing. I am excited to work alongside the dedicated students, staff, families of Lower School and the wider Wycombe Abbey community.
Throughout my career, my passion for education, fostering a positive and inclusive learning environment has been key. Creating a nurturing and stimulating environment that encourages students to reach their full potential is central to my belief. I am committed to providing a well-rounded education that not only focuses on academic excellence but also promotes the development of character, resilience, and a love of learning. I firmly believe that every child deserves an education that empowers them to become confident, compassionate, and responsible leaders of tomorrow.
The Wycombe Abbey vision is: Every child can excel.
This encapsulates the strength of our school; how much we can achieve by working together as educators and as a whole school community to ensure each of our students are challenged and supported throughout their school career with us. It is a vision which we all strive for.
Our excellence in education and commitment to holistic development ensures that each child grows and develops under our guidance, encouraging their passions and interests beyond the classroom, helping them to navigate challenges.
I am inspired by this vision and my personal goal is to extend this principle of community further; to realise that by learning and living together with respect, each one of us becomes greater in terms of actualising our individual potential. We become a community of great individuals operating with success and each making our unique respectful contribution to improve the whole community.
My ambition is to discover the unique voice within each child through education. This is the voice that each child will spend their lifetime honing and developing so that they make their contribution to our planet and the global community. To do this, we need to value our staff and give them the opportunities to be their best so that they can work in partnership with parents to give each one of our Wycombe Abbey children the very best platform to take them forward.
Through education, we have the gift of inspiring a love of learning; creativity and the courage to make positive choices to build the future. We need to put learning first and shape our teaching to bring out the best and most productive learning in the children. We need clear and consistent systems and measures so that we can report progress and achieve strong outcomes through feedback and purposeful planning. The role of the Form Tutor and Assistant Form Tutor are key to this success as a partnership with our students and their families.
I believe strongly in the power of diversity and the innate potential of every child. I value inclusion and actively seek to discover the unique voice of each child as they develop through education.
I look forward to welcoming you to our school community.
